What Does Travelex’s Trip Cancellation and Interruption Plan Include?

The plan also includes missed-connection coverage to help with costs associated with missing a prepaid connection during your travels.

This plan is available on single-trip policies only and can provide coverage for some pre-existing medical conditions. To be eligible for coverage, travellers must be at least 30 days of age but less than 75 years of age.

How Is Travelex’s Trip Cancellation and Interruption Plan Different?

This travel insurance plan differs from Travelex’s  Medical-Only and All-Inclusive plans because it provides coverage only for unforeseen events that result in the cancellation or interruption of a trip.

It does not provide coverage for benefits such as emergency medical and dental expenses, or lost and delayed baggage.

What does Travelex consider a covered reason under this plan?

Travel insurance is designed to protect you from the unexpected, and it can’t cover absolutely everything. The Travelex Trip Cancellation and Interruption plan provides you with coverage for a wide range of unforeseen events, but not all events.

Examples of covered reasons*:

  • You, your travel companion, an immediate family member, or the person you were planning to stay with while travelling unexpectedly develop a medical condition and/or die
  • You, your travel companion, or either of your spouses are quarantined
  • Weather conditions, an earthquake, or a volcanic eruption cause your scheduled transport to be delayed

Examples of reasons that aren’t covered:

  • Events relating to a medical condition that was not stable within the three months prior to purchasing the travel insurance policy
  • A travel visa that is not issued in time because of a late application

For comprehensive details on covered reasons where the trip cancellation and interruption benefits do apply, please read the policy wording.

Does Travelex’s Trip Cancellation and Interruption plan provide protection for an entire trip?

This travel insurance plan provides both pre- and on-trip coverage, but only against three benefits: trip cancellation, trip interruption, and missed connections. Coverage is provided up to the limits listed in the policy.
